Pretty cool, huh? This is April. Mindy and myself were fortunate enough to photograph April and her now husband, Chris’s wedding in 2007. Unfortunately, after the wedding April developed Lyme’s disease which prevented her from working on anything wedding related. Insert sad smiley face here. But with the help of a specialist, April has slowly been able to get back on her feet! So it was THAT much more exciting when April was able to come pick her album up.
How can one moment last forever?
Without an album, all those moments will be lost in time like tears in the rain . . . our storybook albums are timeless heirlooms!
We’re so happy that April loves her album and it was a joy to watch her face as she relived the moments of her wedding as she went from page to page. Chris and April, thank you for letting us tell your love story!

So this morning, when the winners of the International Society of Portrait and Wedding Photographer’s Spring contest were announced there was even more screaming, and happy dancing — Ever After Portraits placed 3 images! Truly, I’m amazed at the talented finalists from all over the world who entered amazing images. Still pinching myself because I am so honored to have placed among such amazing international talent and the thousands of images that are submitted to each contest. It’s so interesting to see how a couple translates to images. As we were looking over the images from their shoot, what we noticed first was Sara’s sparkling smile. Sara practically glowed every time John looked at her and you can tell in every photograph. John seemed to light up every time Sara looked at him. It was very plain to see that what Sara and John have is something special. Something different. Something that many people search for their entire lives. Something that Sara and John have found.

There had been other men who smiled at her but there hadn’t been a smile like this one. When their eyes met, his feet began to move of their own accord in her direction. The twinkle in her eye matched the smile on his lips and soon that smile turned into hello and the start of something indescribably wonderful.
You see, sometimes in life you are fortunate enough to come across people in your life that are so special, so unique that they walk into your life and it’s like they’ve been there all along . . . and you don’t know how they weren’t there before. “Internalize” Megan says, “That’s what we’re constantly telling each other — just keep it inside.” As soon as the words fell from Megan’s lips we were in love. Mindy and I both think that’s one of the reasons we clicked so well with Megan and Larry. We both also have a hard time “internalizing” ourselves! But that only says a little bit about the awesome couple we got to photograph . . .
Megan is just this gorgeous woman, inside and out. In between getting Larry to ‘behave’ and kicking the soccer ball around with Isis, Larry’s extraordinarily mature 8 year old daughter, we managed to get some great shots of them all together. We immediately saw what Larry saw when they had their first date to see an Irish Band at a pub.
Larry had us laughing the entire day! I have to tell this story, because this to us seemed exactly like how Megan and Larry usually are — their essence. So we’re standing in front of the ‘Adventure Theatre’ and Mindy and I are just shooting away and I say, “If You Give A Pig A Pancake” which yes, seemed very random, but I was actually quoting the poster that was hanging behind the glass windows of the theatre. Everyone stopped. Larry gave me this look as to say, have you gone mad? He then looked at Megan who started laughing. Then we all busted out laughing . . . and couldn’t stop for the rest of the afternoon.
We also had the privilege of photographing Isis, that I mentioned before is extremely mature. We were all giggling so much that during the shoot Isis turned to me and said, “How old are you?” It was hilarious! She guessed right about my age — and no, I’m not going to tell you how old I am. She hung right in there with us and we felt that she completed the shoot, just like we could so clearly see how she completed Megan and Larry.
To Megan and Larry — you guys are going to have so much fun throughout your lives. Thanks for allowing us to capture even just a little bit of you three. We hope you like the slideshow we did for you!
