He gently pulled the hair from around her face so he could softly whisper into her ear. Her eyes sparkled with recognition, then a huge smile, followed by a laugh, a laugh that lit up the entire park. Patrick leaned back and looked into Kelley’s eyes. She looked up into his and smiled. And really, this was was how it had all started in the first place with Patrick being new to Arlington. He joined the Arlington Young Democrats’ softball team.
When he walked in, the first things he noticed was Kelly, who was already a member of AYD. In his words, “she was so sparkly and had a beautiful smile.” After the first meeting of AYD, the group split into subcommittee break-out sessions. Patrick didn’t know why subcommittees were necessary, but he knew that if he had to be part of one, it was going to be the one that Kelly was going to.
Five months and a whole lot of flirting later … Patrick and Kelly went out of their first date!

Ashleigh and Eric:
He said, “It was as natural as breathing to have her in my arms” when he was asked how he knew Ashleigh was “the one”. And as we got to spend a few hours with Eric and Ashleigh, it became apparent how natural their relationship with each other was. Ashleigh teases Eric all the time, but Eric laughs and kids her right back. Eric carries all the heavy things and Ashleigh makes sure Eric has new shoes. Sometimes love is about the simple things…their relationship is easy and fun.
Eric met Ashleigh and after a month of getting to know each other, Eric asked Ashleigh to be his girlfriend! Many good times were shared over the next years. But on chilly winter day in New York City, Eric asked Ashleigh to be more than a friend, more than a girlfriend, but to be something much more permanent . . . his wife!

There had been other men who smiled at her but there hadn’t been a smile like this one. When their eyes met, his feet began to move of their own accord in her direction. The twinkle in her eye matched the smile on his lips and soon that smile turned into hello and the start of something indescribably wonderful.

As humans . . . as people . . . from one person to another. I really can’t say enough good things about them. Joseph and Maria met on a sunny day as chaperons on a Northern Virginian apple picking trip. Volunteering with the Reston youth group was nothing new…just an unselfish habit they both had developed. Their common love of helping others drew them together. Shy smiles and romantic dinners soon grew into a beautiful love…Joseph and Maria attribute their beautiful relationship the love of the finer things in life…sharing the highlights of their day, a quiet dinner, and best of all, seeing the humor is any given situation. At the center of their relationship is their passion for God and they’ve built their lives around helping others, such as their work with the Reston Youth Group. Carlos is shy, but funny and sweet — he absolutely love to make Maria laugh….with her Greek heritage, it’s no surprise that Maria is gregarious, caring and has a love of great food!
I love to watch people in love…it makes them easy with each other. That love showed through one beautiful day . . . an absolutely perfect day to photograph Joseph and Maria. We were shocked to hear that this couple were new to being behind the camera seeing how both of them look like models and are so natural with each other expressing how much they love each other. We couldn’t have picked a more perfect backdrop — the leaves were just changing colors so all around Joseph and Maria you’ll see beautiful varieties of brown, gold, green and red. We really, really loved photographing them and we hope they enjoyed it just as much!
